The Curse of the Blackberry

Well, it finally happened. The day that I have been dreading. It was foisted upon me. I had no say.

What happened?

They gave me a Blackberry.

Now, I know some of you are laughing and some are seriously confused about why this could possibly be a bad thing. I mean, a Blackberry is pretty cool. It is a sign that you have reached "true adultness" and that you are important (relatively).

Why is this a bad thing? Because you are literally on call every second of every day. YOU CAN NEVER LEAVE THE OFFICE.

Case in point, I got by Blackberry today. I left work late, so I had already put in a full day. By the time I reached the Metro station, I had 14 priority emails. Seriously? 14 emails in 3 blocks? What the heck!

So, I can never plead ignorant. No more "I've been on the Hill and haven't gotten your last 300 emails about this super important project that needs to be done in the next 10 minutes" or "It was icy outside, so I naturally assumed that we would have a two hour delay and that's why I'm late."

I can already tell that my life will never be the same. I miss my peace and quiet.
